Most folks agree that they feel better when they are more active. That’s because you win an energy boost and a host of other benefits from working out. Exercise puts you in a better mood by pumping up your endorphins, reduces stress, gooses the immune system, increases longevity, improves brain function, helps you sleep better, makes your bones stronger, and puts you on the path to a rockin’ body. Seriously, what’s not to love about the benefits of exercise? The trick is finding the workout that works for you. 


What workout will satisfy your need to move? 

As a certified personal trainer, I try to pair people’s personalities and fitness levels with an activity that they can truly enjoy. I look at the time they have available to work out, the client’s fitness goals, how social they like to be, whether they prefer working out indoors or out, their current fitness level, and what kind of movement leaves them feeling strong, empowered, energized, and satisfied. If you choose a workout that meshes with who you are, you’ll find it 100% easier to commit to getting yourself moving on a regular basis. And that’s the key to fitness—making a consistent commitment to regular activity. So, what are some of the most satisfying workouts I suggest for my clients?

It's important to find ways to incorporate physical activity into your daily routine in order to maintain your physical and mental health. Here are some tips for satisfying your need to move:


  • Find activities you enjoy: The key to sticking with an exercise routine is to find activities that you enjoy. This might include sports, dance, hiking, or yoga.
  • Make it a habit: Try to incorporate physical activity into your daily routine by scheduling it at the same time each day. This will help you to develop a habit and make it easier to stick with your fitness routine.
  • Vary your workouts: To prevent boredom, try to vary your workouts by trying new activities or mixing up your routine. This will keep you motivated and engaged.
  • Get moving throughout the day: You don't have to do all of your physical activity at once. Try to get moving throughout the day by taking breaks to walk around, stretch, or do some simple exercises.

Find a workout buddy: Having a workout partner can help to keep you accountable and motivated. Find a friend or family member who is also interested in getting active and work out together.

  • Eat mindfully: Pay attention to what you are eating and how you are feeling while you eat. This can help you to tune in to your body's hunger and fullness signals and make healthier choices.
  • Avoid skipping meals: Skipping meals can lead to over-eating or making poor food choices later on. Try to eat regular, balanced meals to maintain stable blood sugar levels and prevent hunger.
  • Stay hydrated: Drinking enough water is important for maintaining good health and supporting your body's functions. Aim for at least 8 cups of water per day, or more if you are physically active.
